More Thank Yous!!

As donations have continued to come in over Thanksgiving week and up until today, I am VERY thankful and wanted to say thank you to a few people out there.

Peter, who used to work with me has had so many problems with the health of one of his cats as well as his own health. I had seen him through the loss of his cat Ashley a year ago or so. Elena, his friend is also an animal lover and helped him through it. They were also both very supportive when Nathan had his spinal surgery two years ago. I am touched that they both sent me something in support at this time. They both know what this is like, but since Peter lost his job at the radio station when i did due to a mass lay off, it's especially kind of him. He says he know how much I love Nathan and couldn't resist, so Thank you to Peter and Elena in Queens a thousand times!

And equally to Miriam in LA who met Nathan years ago when she & her husband came to stay in the apartment i shared with their daughter Katya. She loves doxies too and used to have one. Again, she knows what loosing a pet is like, and is glad for me and Nathan that I didn't have to go through it. Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness. I hope you decide to adopt another Dachshund soon.

Now those are the recent donations from people I do know, however, people I haven't even met have recently contributed to these surgical costs and I am in awe...Talk about spreading good karma! Robin who donated $50, Jason from East Orange who contributed $20, Paula from Brooklyn Heights gave $25, and Jen from NYC gave $10!!

You are all helping me move a little closer toward my goal of about $5,500 after the pet insurance payout. I have met so many people who have incurred the same kinds of expenses with their pets and more in some cases. Even though the pet insurance doesn't even pay half, i still can't recommend that everyone gets it enough, because i'd be looking at $10,000 otherwise. You don't know what can happen when you get a pet and it's always best to prepare. The costs are low to have pet insurance ($332/yr is mine and i'm sure there are better deals out there). Especially for those of you with Dachshunds. Rescue takes in so many doxies who need back surgery. Nathan required it at 4 yrs and we lived in a first floor apartment unit! He's just a very active dog. His previous owners called Coast to Coast Dachshund rescue because they did not know how to train him and didn't have the time to deal with a puppy that I believe was a holiday present for their daughter. I was fostering doxies and for me, none were active ENOUGH. Thanks to Coast to Coast working well with DRNA, I somehow got Nathan into my home and it was seriously love at first sight. Because he was so active, and because i didn't know his heredity, I picked up the insurance and it has more than paid for itself....
so get it!!!

But back to the original reason for this post...THANK YOU to everyone who has donated. In this economy especially, I feel very fortunate.
